1990-1994 Overview

The 1991 FA Cup saw the best and the worst from Paul Gascoigne, Gazza almost single handadly carried Tottenham to the 1991 FA Cup final, with outstanding performances against Oxford, Notts County and Arsenal. However he ran rampant in the FA Cup final, making two professional fouls in the opening 10 minutes of the final, he was carried off injured in the first ten minutes of the match. Nottingham Forest took the lead, however Spurs levelled and it took an own goal by Des Walker to settle the score line. Gary Mabbutt had the honour of lifting the FA Cup for Spurs and the entire team took the cup to the hospital where Gascoigne was staying after his injury.

Second division Sunderland reached the 1992 FA Cup final, Marco Gabbiadini scored in every round leading up to the final. Liverpool comfortably beat Sunderland 2-0 in the final and mark Wright had the honour of lifting the trophy for the Reds.

Arsenal met Sheffield Wednesday in the 1993 FA Cup final, and after a draw by the end of full time, the match was forced to a replay. Wednesday took the lead with a fine goal by David Hirst; however Arsenal stormed back into the thick of the action. Steve Morrow scored the winner for Arsenal as they won 2-1 and while celebrating victory, Arsenal hero, Steve Morrow fell of Tony Adams shoulders and injured his neck.

Manchester united was beginning to dominate the English football scene come what 1994, they had just won the league in 1993 and were searching for the same in the 1993-94 football season. That season produced even more success for United as they won the league with games to spare and their 4-0 FA Cup victory was emphatic. Bryan Robson lifted the trophy for Manchester United and they were 1994 FA Cup winners.
