Ian Rush
FA Cup Status – Winner (Liverpool) 1986, 1989

Rush moved to Liverpool in 1980 for a fee of £300,000 and less than one month later he made his debut for Wales. Within a year, he had matured from a skinny teenager into a predatory genius and captured the first of a full cupboard of trophies in 1981, winning the milk cup. Rush reserved some of his greatest plays for Merseyside rivals Everton, the club he had supported as a boy. During the 1986 against the Toffeemen double chasing Liverpool fell behind to an early goal, but Rush pounced on a mistake in defence to snatch a dramatic equalizer. Liverpool went ahead soon after and, ten minutes from time, Rush rifled home a close range shot to record Liverpool’s first FA Cup triumph in 12 years.
